PROBLEM
A major service provider for an Oilsands operator was preparing storage tanks for entry and inspection. The degassing and degreasing chemicals they had historically been using could not be diluted for application and could not be mixed for a single-step process. This resulted in high chemical costs and extended times required to prepare the tank for entry, impacting the overall cost and scope of the turnaround.
SOLUTION
With a clear understanding of the customer’s objectives of reducing chemical costs and the amount of time available to effectively prepare the tank for entry, Evergreen Solutions developed a customized solution for the service provider. With a complete solution, including the chemistry and a full procedure, Evergreen Solutions was able to help the service provider exceed the operator’s expectations for the tank entry timeline and costs.
Using TASER DGH and TASER FDG at the recommended dilutions, temperatures, flow, and duration, the service provider was able to condense the entry preparation procedure into a single-step process, reducing the time, equipment needed and ultimately the cost of the project.
CHALLENGE
A major oilsands producer was cleaning their heavy haul trucks with a hazardous product containing high concentrations of volatile organic compounds that resulted in headaches and sick days for employees. The equipment cleaning time was considered too high and the chemical usage to remove bitumen and hydraulic greases exceeded the customer requirements. The chemical being used left a slippery residue on the equipment and floors that did not come off with repeated rinsing, raising concerns about the health and safety of the workers on and around the equipment.
SOLUTION
We developed MegaSol’s formulation to address the issues of bitumen and hydraulic grease removal.
RESULTS
MegaSol provided the customer with the following benefits:

For best results, KNOCKOUT is foamed onto the surfaces that require cleaning, allowing the product to cling to the surface and giving it maximum contact time. After 15-20 minutes of activity, rinse the treated areas with water to expose the clean surface. Thicker deposits may require some scrubbing or a second round for full removal.
For exceptionally heavy deposits customers have the option to use KNOCKOUT HW for a faster, more aggressive clean.
KNOCKOUT HW is a concentrated formulation of the KNOCKOUT blend, using the same proprietary mixture of high-performance chemistries for those heavyweight bouts. KNOCKOUT HW is best applied as a foam to maximize contact time. After 15-20 minutes, rinse all surfaces with water.
